Each month All Hands share a post of events from around Taiwan. These events will span networking, professional learning, community gatherings, hiring, seminars, happy hours, and more. This will be a living list and is by no means comprehensive. If you know of a great event that should be included, please send us a message to let us know.
*Unless noted, most of these events are in Taipei and are in English, but we have not attended all of these series before. You should look into the event if you have any language concerns.
2/05 – Android Code Club – This casual Android coding group meets weekly on Wednesdays. Feel free to bring your projects, seek advice or just come to talk shop.*This event is likely to be multi-lingual. (Free)
2/05 – Les rendez-vous de l’AFTJ 台法青年相遇 – Monthly Networking and French language exchange event at French Kiss. (free with a minimum drink or food purchase)
2/09 – Yourator 2020 Job Fair – Come to Taipei Tech Arena next to Taipei Ikea, dress to impress and bring your resume. (free)
2/10 – Club Meeting: Love & Life – Toastmasters is a group of people who help each other build confidence, develop communication and leadership skills and practice to speak English more fluently. Members get to conduct the meeting, deliver prepared and impromptu speeches and give constructive speech evaluations. Come meet and connect with people from all walks of life. This meeting’s theme is: LOVE & LIFE – What do you love most about life ? (150 NT venue fee)
2/10 ~ 2/14 – My Room Abroad Welcome Week Taipei 2020 -Arriving soon in Taipei? Don’t know anybody yet? Join MRA’s Welcome week events to meet awesome new people and enjoy fun “Welcome to Taipei” activities! (850 NT for the full week package. Can also register day-by-day, see description for details)
2/11 – English Teacher Happy Hour @ Mowes – Maybe it’s your first time teaching young learners, maybe you need advice on how to teach Business English, or maybe you have a special way of tiring out those energetic 5 year old students?
Come and join us for an evening with other English teachers. We will share experiences, tips and tricks, funny stories and much more. (200 NT min. donation, BYOB, wine for sale on premises)
2/14 – MOX Friday Happy Hour: Emerging Trends in Southeast Asia VC – Spend your Valentine’s day with Mark Ikauniks, Venture Partner at Accelerating Asia Ventures and EIR at SOSV MOX, who will be sharing insights into VC investment in Southeast Asia. Mark is responsible for portfolio selection and development and also oversight of AAV’s fund management and investor relations functions. (Free)
2/19 – Managing Workplace Stress Meditation Workshop – Do you experience anxiety, anger, or other emotions that throw you off-balance in your professional life? Many of us do, but coming back to equilibrium quickly is essential to reducing stress and working at our best. This workshop will begin with some simple seated yoga poses you can do at your desk, then will provide brief introductions and demos of multiple meditation and mindfulness techniques, so you can expand your stress management toolkit. 2/19 – My Room Abroad Neighborhood Drink: Taipower + Guting – Come to the park and make friends with the people who are living in your neighborhood; let’s create a good vibe in the area! Bring your own Drinks and Food. (Free)
2/21 – TED Talk Screening x Happy Hour “Power of Vulnerability” at the Hive – “Brené Brown studies human connection — our ability to empathize, belonging, and love. In a poignant, funny talk, she shares a deep insight from her research, one that sent her on a personal quest to know herself as well as to understand humanity. She then spent 6 years on decoding the causes of vulnerability. She found that love and belonging are the feelings most common to people who have a sense of worthiness. ” Followed by networking. 2/23 – Rotaract Blockchain Essentials – At this event you will not only learn more information about blockchain, but we will also have a Hands-On section where you will have the chance to learn how to launch your own crypto via a portal.
Speaker Wayne Chiu, will share expertise on the topic. Wayne is the Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of Buckchaf, a company that promotes blockchain and enables individuals and businesses to benefit from it. (Walkins 460 NT, non-Rotaract students 360 NT, Rotaract members 260 NT)
2/25 – MOX Friday Happy Hour: VC Panel – MOX (Mobile Only Accelerator) graduates their biggest cohort yet this February, with companies pioneering govtech, publishing, edtech, direct-to-consumer retail, logistics & transportation.
