Meet the panelists for our first event! Details below.Each month All Hands will share a post of events from around Taiwan. These events will span networking, professional learning, community gatherings, hiring, seminars, happy hours, and more. This will be a living list and is by no means comprehensive. If you know of a great event that should be included, please send us a message to let us know.
*Unless noted, most of these events are in English, but we have not attended all of these series before. You should look into the event if you have any language concerns.
1/2 – Launch Taiwan Meetup at Futureward – Join Launch Taiwan to see, learn, and start entrepreneurship from idea to implementation! This is the original Wednesday night startup group. This week’s meeting will focus on updates for the companies + projects of current members. New members are welcome to share what they are working on. (Attendees are encouraged to make a donation on behalf of the venue)
1/3 – Pitch Coaching Workshop w/Betatron at Futureward – Have a pitch that you’ve been wanting to practice? Need some tips on how to improve your pitch? Join this workshop to learn more about how to up your game while receiving valuable feedback from host Michael Wojcieszek. (Free?)
1/3 – Ross MBA Reception – This event will be a happy hour where you will have the opportunity to mingle with fellow students and speak with alumni to learn more about the Ross experience at Michigan University, ask questions, and hear more about what makes Ross unique. (Free, but drinks might not be)
1/6 – Women’s Tea Time at MOWES – Women’s Tea Time happens every other Sunday evening. Join for tea, snacks, and talk. An evening of sharing how your week has been, what has been on your mind, and whatever else comes to mind. Just come and chill and make new friends. (Minimum donation is NT$100)
1/7 – Type A Breakfast – Start the new year right! Sit with a group of Type-A entrepreneurs and professionals from 7:30am-9:30am and focus on doing a full day’s work in two hours. (Free with RSVP)
1/9 – Love Your Next Job – a Panel Discussion with All Hands – Our inaugural event will be a panel discussion by four people who have moved from teaching into other professional work. Expect a lively discussion, long Q+A, and a room full of great networking opportunities. (NT$300, includes one beer or NA beverage) – Pics are up now in case you missed it, check them out!
1/9 – Introduction to Deep Learning (DL) and Setting up of Pytorch DL Environments – A free meetup for those interested in learning about deep learning in specific use cases. (Free)
1/10 – Shape Drinks with Global Shapers Taipei – Event consists of a brief talk from an expert in their respective field, with each event showcasing a different field. After the speech it’s time to network. (Free with purchase of food or drink)
1/10 – This Week in Asia – This event is held the second Thursday of every month. Mingle and network in a relaxed and open atmosphere whether you are a professional, entrepreneur, or just like thoughtful chats. (Free with cafe purchase)
1/11 – How to Present with Confidence with XY Bridges (Pt. 1) – The first in a series of Public Speaking workshops, will offer the opportunity to learn and practice some of the most important elements of successful public speaking, including bringing emotion and authenticity to your voice, body language, and engaging storytelling. (NT$1,000; NT$800 each if you bring a buddy)
1/12 – MBA Information Session featuring INSEAD Alumni in Taipei – This is an MBA Information Session to learn more about the INSEAD MBA Programme. Jennifer Luo, Assistant Director of MBA Marketing and Recruitment, will provide insights into curriculum and admissions, followed by Q+A. (Free w/registration)
1/14-19 – Hive Taipei Open Week – The Hive is Taiwan’s newest and most beautiful coworking space. With a café, hotdesks, private offices, meeting rooms and a superb location. During Open Week you can try out the space for free, from 8am to 8pm. Come by, bring your laptop, and get productive. (Free)

1/16 – How to Present with Confidence with XY Bridges (Pt. 2) – Learn how to weave a story into your presentation and take your audience on a journey. 1/17 – Sparklabs DemoDay 1 – SparkLabs DemoDay invites first batch portfolio companies to pitch on stage. We welcome startup founders, VCs, investors, and corporate executives to join and discover business opportunities. (Free with RSVP)
1/17 – Entrepreneur Experiences Edition 1 – Hive Taipei is excited to present the first installment of a series of Q+A talks featuring ambitious executives who are trailblazers in their field. This month’s esteemed guests are Chi-Chen Lin and Miquel Rey, co-founders of Taipei’s most design-centric leathergoods company, Llagut. (Free with RSVP)
1/18-20 – Techstars New Taipei City Startup Weekend – Startup Weekends are 54-hour events designed to provide superior experiential education for tech and non-tech entrepreneurs. Beginning with Friday night pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation, Startup Weekends culminate in Sunday night demos and presentations. (NT$800 and up)
1/18 – Interview Success: The Keys to Making a Great Impression w/XY Bridges – You’ll learn: The importance of body language from the handshake to eye contact and more. Correct communication – authenticity, deliverability, confidence. How to craft your own narrative and deliver a story that is unique and memorable. (NT$1,200; $1,000 for Students)
1/20 – Yourator + Taipei Tech Arena hiring event – With more than 100 startups in attendance, this will be a fantastic job fair. Registrants can use the system early to check opportunities and listings, and can have face-to-face meetings at the event. (Free)

1/23 – Futureward Forum: What Does It Take to Be a Woman Entrepreneur in the Tech World? – This month’s speaker, Yadia Colindres, is COO and Co-founder of IoT startup Fox-Tech Co., and she also runs the Taipei Sigfox Usergroup which promotes the use of LPWAN among all level of developers. She has helped design and launch IoT solutions in 23 countries worldwide. (Free)
1/24 – Be Your Own Boss – a Panel Discussion with All Hands – Our second event will be a panel discussion by three people who run their own small local businesses in Taiwan. 1/24 – Hive Taipei Launch Party – The opening of The Hive’s newest co-working space and first location in Taiwan will feature a night of drinks, music, and live art. (Free)
1/25 – MOX Happy Hour with Bruce Bateman – LiteOn’s Chief Technology Officer will share his unique insights on what’s ahead for 5G and how entrepreneurs can leverage it. He brings extensive and wide-ranging experience in nine startups with a special focus on tech related to smart cities. (Free)
1/25 – Young Professionals Workshop – LinkedIn Profiles – Presented by BCCT and Adecco, this workshop will show young professionals the ins and outs of setting up a LinkedIn profile to maximize your visibility to recruiters and build your online brand. (NT$500)
1/26 – Learnings from Ladies that UX – North American Director and San Francisco chapter President Clara Kilman-Silver comes to Taipei to share her learnings about the experience of taking something that was a small community and turning into a global organization. (NT$450)
1/30 – Lean Startup Principles & Discussions – Discussion will focus on Lean Startup experiences, where you are in the build/measure/learn cycle, what you want to do next and how. (Free with a purchase in the cafe)
1/30 – Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), Artificial Neural Network (ANN), and Deep Learning – A complicated computing meetup that doesn’t hav a description beyond the title, but is hosted by foreigners. (Free)
1/30 – Product Management in AI at AppWorks – Speaker Jane Chen is a former Senior Product Manager at American Express with focus on next-gen customer service technologies such as AI Chatbot and in-app messaging experiences. (Free)
