Where to Network in July – Meetups, Conferences, and More

Each month All Hands will share a post of events from around Taiwan. These events will span networking, professional learning, community gatherings, hiring, seminars, happy hours, and more. This will be a living list and is by no means comprehensive. If you know of a great event that should be included, please send us a message to let us know.


*Unless noted, most of these events are in English, but we have not attended all of these series before. You should look into the event if you have any language concerns.


7/1 – Meet Global Salon – Lessons from Silicon Valley – A diverse group of Silicon Valley veterans will present and discuss startup outlooks for Taiwan. (Free)


7/2 – Office Hours – Scaling Your Venture: Global Market Expansion & Investment Are you facing issues scaling locally or abroad? Are you running into challenges finding and/or talking to investors? If so, stop by our open office hours with venture builder and M&A advisor Harvey Ma (4 slots available). (Free for Futureward members; NT$300 for a half day pass for non-members)


7/2 – How to be a Programmer If you aspire to work as a programmer, or want to know what it would be like, this workshop is for you. Pairwise co-founders Sean and Ian will discuss life as a software engineer and offer some hands-on time to try out their program. (NT$100 for Hive members; NT$200 for non-members)


7/2 – Global Taipei Dialogue – Women’s Empowerment in Taipei The second installment of Global Taipei Dialogue events is focused on Women’s Empowerment in Taipei. Guest speakers and workshops fill the agenda for this new event series. (Free)


7/3 – Office Hours with Global Entrepreneurs & VCs Your chance to get one-on-one time with real VCs and experienced global entrepreneurs, courtesy of Meet Taipei. (Free? with registration)


7/3 – NCTUxMVP International Startup Workshop SeriesDo you have a startup dream? Then don’t miss out NCTUxMVP International Startup Workshop Series. Join us every Friday to get first-hand information on startups for free. **This event is in Hsinchu. (Free)


7/8 – Meet Global Salon Meet Global Salon aspires to be a sort of fireside chat among Silicon Valley entrepreneurs. The focus will be on new opportunities they see in Taiwan as well as other global market development. (Free)

7/9 What Happens Next? – A Post-Corona Discussion – While day-to-day life seems mostly normal here, future challenges and opportunities await as the world continues to deal with COVID-19. Come for the tacos, listen to the panel discussion, stay for the networking! (NT$300 includes a free beer/soda/wine)

7/10 The Comeback Crawl – Taipei’s most casual and fun networking concept is back and it’s the one year anniversary of the very first 7-11 crawl. Join this very casual gathering and network while you wander and shop from the coolers of a few different convenience stores. (Free)


7/15 Demo Day The Innovators 3 (Bilingual) Demo Day 3 showcases 14 startups spanning 5G tech, finance, manufacture, travel, construction, sports, education, retail, etc. The companies will present technological innovations and business proposals, showcasing their creativity, aspirations, and determination. (Free with RSVP; livestream also available)


7/15 – Anchor Roundtable: Women in Venture (VIII) – Holly Liu Anchor Roundtable: Women in Venture is a network of 80+ female investors mostly in Taipei who meet on the 3rd Wednesday of every odd month to connect, share resources and grow. July’s guest speaker is Holly Liu, Co-founder of Kabam and Former Visiting Partner at Y Combinator. (Zoom event, RSVP for link info)


7/16 – Co-work at Wildmii Safari Cafe This is a recurring co-working meetup hosted by Taiwan Digital Nomads Meetup Group. Spend the day working in this beautiful cafe and get to know other remote or digital nomads in Taipei. (NT$150)


7/17 – Social Innovation Festival 20/20 | Black Tie Gala Event Festival 20/20 is Tong Yi Xin Design Group’s newest initiative. This is an initiative launching event, your ticket price goes to developing an open-source map. (???)


7/23 – Caught in the Middle: What it takes for mid-career changes What do you think are the best ingredients for a mid-level career switch? Solid on-the-job experience? Certifications? Degree from reputable schools? Legit references? Connections? Jack Chen began his career as a chemical salesman. Then he saw the potential in livestreaming and later became a business development manager. Now he works as a product manager at Grindr. From chemicals to livestreaming to online dating. 7/27 – Taipei Impact Entrepreneurs Monday MeetupTaipei Impact Entrepreneurs is a great community of entrepreneurs and people interested in starting their own businesses. Join this weekly meetup to share your ideas and learn from other experienced entrepreneurs. If you wish to do a presentation or talk on your business, project, or topic of interest, feel free to bring your laptop or materials along. (Free)


7/28 – Panel Discussion w/ Women in Media, Film, & Non-Profit Activism What are you passionate about? What are you passionate about changing? What obstacles prevent you from making these changes? If you have ever wanted to explore questions like these, join this panel discussion featuring 3 prominent women in media, film, non-profit spaces, and activism who live in Taiwan. (Free but you must pre-register)


7/29 – Early Stage Startups: From Ideas to Fundraising Are you an early stage startup in need of some advice? Do you have some ideas that you want to run by an investor? Need help with fundraising? If you struggle with these questions, stop by FW open office hours with Angel Investor Greg Hao. (Free for Futureward members; NT$300 for a half day pass for non-members)


7/30 – July Green Drinks Taipei Green Drinks is a global event, which hosts city-based monthly gatherings to discuss green industry and sustainability in a casual/fun setting. 綠色暢聊 台北 Green Drinks Taipei hopes to create an environmental social hub, open to all. If you are interested in the environment, sustainability, circular economy, and related topics, you are welcome to join. (Free)


7/30 – All Chambers Summer Happy HourThe All-Chamber Summer Happy Hour is a good way to connect with members from all the Chambers in a relaxed setting. This month will be a true Australian/New Zealand style summer poolside BBQ at W Hotel (Wet Bar)! (pre-registered NT$1,100; walk-ins NT$1,300)
