Where to Network in November – Meetups, Conferences, and More

Each month All Hands will share a post of events from around Taiwan. These events will span networking, professional learning, community gatherings, hiring, seminars, happy hours, and more. This will be a living list and is by no means comprehensive. If you know of a great event that should be included, please send us a message to let us know.


*Unless noted, most of these events are in English, but we have not attended all of these series before. You should look into the event if you have any language concerns.

11/5Employment Gold Card explained & Entrepreneur visa renewal experience sharing – Come hear Irish Senior Software Developer and Gold Card holder Colum Brolly explain how to apply for the Gold Card. In addition, Claudia Wild and Sean Wilson, entrepreneurs and holders of the Entrepreneurship Visa, will explain how to apply for the Entrepreneurship Visa. (Free).


11/5STORYTELLING workshop: market your business (and yourself!) – Taipei Marketing Talks is back with speaker Tom Jackobs! Tom has a theatre degree and a history of starting several different businesses, including a Fitness Business which he owned for 10 years and sold 3 years ago to become a Digital Nomad. Tom now teaches business owners how to sell from the stage or camera with the power of their personal stories. (Free)


11/6 Meet The Anchors – Every month, on the 1st Friday from 10am to 11am, Anchor Taiwan invites entrepreneurs, mentors, investors and newcomers for coffee or tea! This is a small and cozy session to connect with you. No agenda, but if you want to pick our brain on your market entry/fundraising, or simply want to meet some newcomers and trade ideas? This is for you. (Free)


11/7The 7-11 Networking Crawl! – Come out and celebrate 7-11 on 11/7! The crawl starts near Maji Maji at YuanShan. Then we’ll make our way from 7-11 to 7-11, stopping for beverages at each one. We’ll end the night at Parklife Drinking Room. Come join us! (Free)


11/08iPlayground 2020 – Are you an iOS programmer? Come out to network and attend the sessions at one of Taiwan’s largest iOS conferences! This event is in Chinese. (NT$1,500 – NT$1,800)


11/10HR教你成功找工作的三個步驟 – All Hands 11/21 的徵才博覽會就快到了,你正在苦惱該怎麼做好準備嗎?不用擔心!一起加入我們的討論會,由三位HR專家教你怎麼確實面對求職的每個步驟,讓你在徵才博覽會中做出最好的表現! This event will be conducted in Chinese. (NT$200)


11/10Marine Sponges: The Animal Beyond Your Imagination – Yusheng Huang is an associate professor of the Department of Marine Recreation at National Penghu University of Science and Tech. He was the first Taiwanese Antarctic scientific diver and awardee of the United States Antarctic Service Medal due to his contribution to the Antarctic marine benthic ecology. (Free?)


11/11 – How to get hired? – In preparation for the All Hands International Job Fair, come listen to some tips and tricks from hiring professionals. We’ll cover resumes, communication, first impressions, and interview do’s and don’ts. This event will feature diverse hiring professionals spanning a wide range of industries. We will be having more Q+A than usual for this event in order to support job seekers who are preparing to attend the job fair and take the next step in their careers. (NT$300 includes a drink)


11/11SCCT & Business Sweden Breakfast Seminar: Business Climate In Taiwan + COVID-19 Updates – At this exclusive breakfast seminar, SCCT will give a briefing of the results from the Business Climate Survey 2020 and COVID-19 updates. (Members only: $500)


11/11SoGal Lunchclub – Starting a business is difficult enough. Feeling like you are alone and the only one facing challenges? Why not get together with other diverse founders on a monthly basis for lunch? Men who are allies for women in business and are interested in actively supporting women entrepreneurs are welcome! 11/14 – HON Taipei X Reinvent Your Career Pt. 1 & 2 – In this workshop (pt. 2) led by Stephenie Lee, Founder of Zhifei, a structured career-coaching marketplace for professionals to meet and engage with experts to define their own career positioning and develop 21st-century workplace skills, we will explore our own uniqueness in the job market and begin to position ourselves for accelerated progress towards our own career goals. 11/14 – Anchor Taiwan 2020 Cohort | Hardware Innovation & Sustainability – Taiwan is the No.1 PCB manufacturing base in the world, taking up 46% of global output – Taiwan notebook ODMs account for more than 90% of global production. Taiwan is widely recognized as a wonderland for hardware innovation. There are countless resources for product development, and Anchor is here to explore the supply chain to find your best match! 11/18 – 11/21Meet Taipei 2020 – Meet Taipei is the largest startup festival in Asia, drawing 20,000 visitors over its three days. With many stages, booths for startups of all sizes, presentations by city governments around Taiwan, and powerful VCs working the room, there’s something for everyone. (Free w/ registration)


11/19SCCT Company Visit: Tour of Volvo Cars – The Swedish Chamber of Commerce has been invited by Volvo Cars Authorized Dealer in Taipei City to tour the brand new facilities in Neihu as well as have a look at the newest Volvo models. On top of that, we will also get a presentation on what Volvo Cars are up to, and how Volvo Cars operate in Taiwan – and snacks. (Free)


11/19BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU – Beaujolais Nouveau is the first wine produced from the season‘s harvest and ready to be tasted on the third Thursday of November every year. CCIFT Beaujolais Nouveau Celebration gathers more than 650 guests from management executives of foreign companies in Taiwan to trade office representatives. (Free?)


11/21All Hands International Job Fair – 國際企業徵才 博覽會 – It’s the big one. We’ll see you at the EcoArk near Maji Square. Put on some nice looking duds, bring lots of copies of your CV, and apply to jobs with some of the most internationally-minded companies on the island. Then sit down and enjoy a beer, good food, and a lively set of events on our main stage. (Free)


11/21Empowering Women in Tech: How to Kickstart Your Career – Mandy Chung will share how women can raise their power in the workplace. Mandy’s professional background is a combination of experience in tech and leadership. She will share some keys to kickstart your tech career or get a better salary. Don’t miss this opportunity to learning from her fascinating experience! (Free for members; $300 for registered guests, $400 unregistered guests)


11/24 – Anchor Roundtable: Corporate Venturing | 企創投沙龍系列 (III) – Anchor Taiwan and DigiTimes will host this invite-only roundtable about Taiwan’s place on the global stage. The session will be limited to 15 attendees and may be mostly or entirely in Chinese. (Invite-only)


11/25 – Green Drinks Taipei – A special Green Drinks event! The audience will help provide feedback to Ooh Cha Cha on a new carbon monitoring tool for their menu. Ooh Cha Cha will make a short presentation on their new tool which tells you how much land, water, and CO2 is saved per meal. Green Drinks will provide feedback on the tool and advice on how to develop it. (Free, but please buy a drink to help support the venue)


11/25 Happy Hour – WINE UP Wednesdays with EBAT – A monthly Happy Hour hosted by the EBAT European Business Association in Taiwan, held every last Wednesday of the month. (NT$500 for members, NT$700 for pre-registered non-members. NT$800 at the door)


12/12020 All Chamber Winter Happy Hour – Come and celebrate the last All-Chambers event of 2020 with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on the second floor’s The Residence. Spend your evening surrounded by delicious food, great people, and a gorgeous night view of Taipei City. We have a lovely indoor area and an outdoor terrace area with seating that overlooks Taipei 101. (NT$1100 for Members and Guests, NT$1300 for walk-ins)
